Recently it was found out that a programming vulnerability in Facebook exposed millions of un-posted photos from users to over a thousand third-party apps. This bug in Facebook even managed to expose those photos that were previously uploaded by people on Facebook that were never posted on their profiles for some reason.

How to hack a Facebook account password without downloading anything. When you give permission to a third-party app to access your Facebook photos, usually you are giving that app access to your photos that you have previously shared on your timeline.
However, with this vulnerability, developers accessed other photos that were not uploaded on people's timeline but were put in Facebook Stories or shared on Marketplace. The problem was severe because millions of photos were exposed for almost two weeks back in September of last year.
Facebook then finally found out about the bug and fixed it at the end of September.
When Facebook announced this bug, they said that they believe that about seven million Facebook users were affected by it. Over 1500 apps created by 900 developers have gotten access to the photos.
Many people wondered which apps were affected by this problem and Facebook announced that only those apps that were approved by users to access photos were affected.
Facebook users were notified about this flaw that affected their photos by getting an alert displayed on their timeline. Users were then directed towards Facebook Help Center where they could seek more information about resolving the issue.
Facebook recently announced that they would provide app developers with helpful tools with which they will be able to determine which users got affected by this vulnerability. The company is also working with a team of developers to completely erase those photos that should not have been accessed in the first place.

The past year was terrible for Facebook. Numerous problems damaged the reputation of the company. The biggest scandal was the security breach known as the Cambridge Analytic scandal which exposed sensitive information for almost ninety million Facebook users.
Besides that scandal, there were a few others that also disclose people's private information and let hackers hack Facebook password steal data and secret tokens from users.
Although Facebook generates billions of dollars of profits every year, they still find it hard to protect the sensitive information of their users. At the moment all we can do is be alert and be aware of what is going on.
You should remember to be extremely cautious when giving apps access to your photos and only download apps that are trustworthy and that come from reliable sources. The online world is dangerous, and hackers are always looking for ways to steal information.
